As the SUV passed through the intersection, it collided with a second vehicle, which was occupied by a family of five. The family became entrapped in their vehicle. All five victims had to be extricated by firefighters.
Two women were airlifted from the scene of the accident to Brooke Army Medical Center for treatment of critical injuries. Three others involved in the crash were transported to Southwest General Hospital with serious injuries. At this time, the San Antonio Police Department is investigating.
