Reports show that 40-year-old John Ware was riding a motorcycle, with his 17-year-old son, on US Highway 183. As the two men passed through the area where US Highway 183 meets US Highway 183A, they were struck by a vehicle that had run a red light at the intersection.

The two men on the motorcycle were fatally injured. Both victims were declared deceased at the scene of the accident. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene without stopping to render aid.

Police immediately secured the area and conducted an investigation. Information at the scene of the accident led to the arrest of 21-year-old Allan Justin Gayton. Gayton was transported to an area hospital for treatment of injuries and arrested for his actions.

Leander, TX (September 11, 2020) – A hit-and-run accident in the Leander area claimed the lives of two people on Wednesday. At around 2 a.m., on September 9, officers with the Leander Police Department were called to the site of a collision on US Highway 183.
