Houston, TX – Mayra Ospina Succumbs to Injuries from Barker Cypress Rd Crash

Houston, TX (February 1, 2020) – At approximately 12:45 a.m., on January 27, emergency crews were called to the scene of a collision in the 5000 block of Barker Cypress Road. Reports show that 23-year-old Mayra Ospina stopped to assist the driver of a vehicle stuck in a ditch along the roadway.

While standing on the side of the road, Ospina and a second victim were struck by 26-year-old Zachary Castro in a Toyota Tundra. Castro’s vehicle then collided with four other vehicles on the side of the road.

Both victims were rushed to a local area hospital for treatment. Authorities confirmed that Ospina succumbed to her injuries on January 31^st.

Castro was arrested and charged with one count of intoxication manslaughter and two counts of intoxication assault.
