Arlington, TX (August 21, 2020) – A workplace accident reported on Thursday claimed one victim’s life in the Arlington area. At approximately 2 p.m., on August 20, the Arlington Fire Department responded to the scene of a workplace accident on North Collins Boulevard.
Reports show that a supervisor was training a co-worker on how to operate Bobcat machinery in the 4000 block of North Collins Boulevard near Blue Lake Road. At some time during the training, the mechanical controls caused the bucket to strike the supervisor with extreme force. The construction supervisor was fatally injured in the accident and declared deceased at the scene immediately.
At this time, the police and the United States Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health Administration are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
We would like to offer our condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time.
Every day, millions of Americans head out to their place of employment. When working, we expect a safe and productive environment. Unfortunately, this is not always the case. This is particularly true for people who work construction and are subject to harsh weather, extreme cold and heat, and various other circumstances. When it comes to the construction industry, it is relatively hard to predict the conditions that workers will endure from day-to-day. As a result, these workers are more likely to sustain serious injuries in accidents. More than 185,000 people are injured on the job every year across the United States.
Regrettably, numerous workers suffer devastating injuries that ultimately claim their lives. Every year, workplace accidents claim the lives of thousands of victims across the United States. We see our fair share of devastating losses each year in Texas. Some of the leading cause of workplace accidents in our state include:
