The auto accident occurred Tuesday evening at about 6:00 p.m. on Texas 199 (about a mile east of FM 920). It was reported that 21-year-old Shannon Nicole Edgar, of Midland, was traveling eastbound on Highway 199 when she “lost control” and veered into the oncoming lane of traffic. Her vehicle then struck a westbound pickup truck driven by 43-year-old Gildardo Torres, of Jacksboro, causing both cars to roll.
The pickup truck briefly caught fire, but Gildardo Torres was able to escape the mangled vehicle. Nearby fire departments were called to the scene to help extricate Shannon Nicole Edgar and her 21-year-old passenger Anthony Vance, of Carrollton. Anthony Vance was hospitalized in critical condition at Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth. Gildardo Torres was transported to Wise Regional Health System in Decatur with non-life-threatening injuries, and Shannon Edgar was transported to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth. She is also being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
