A 26-year-old female who suffered from sickle cell disease was admitted to the hospital after suffering pain, and was diagnosed with sickle cell crisis.

As the result of being treated with an inappropriate amount and combination of narcotic analgesics, combined with an undiagnosed and untreated pulmonary embolism, she suffered respiratory depression and died. The case was eventually settled out of court for $450,000.00.
