San Antonio, TX (January 18, 2023) – A crash that took place in the San Antonio area on Tuesday afternoon claimed one life while leaving a second person with significant injuries. On January 17, the San Antonio Police Department responded to an auto accident on North Loop 1604.
According to reports, just after 3:20 p.m., a dump truck was traveling east on the access road at North Loop 1604 and Interstate 10 when the driver ignored a red light. As a result, the 18-wheeler collided with a BMW SUV, which was traveling south on the Interstate 10 access road.
The driver of the BMW, identified as a man in his 60s, was fatally hurt. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by law enforcement.
The driver of the dump truck, identified as a male in his 20s, was critically injured. He was transported by ambulance for emergency treatment.
The crash totaled both vehicles. Police and firefighters remained at the scene for an extended period to investigate, and these investigations are currently ongoing.
