Texas police are investigating the cause of the accident and are awaiting blood alcohol test results from both drivers.
The fatal Texas car accident took place just after ten in the evening, as 17-year-old James Harris headed home after a long pre-Thanksgiving shift at a local grocery store in Tarrant County. The teen, a recent student of Azle High School and football alum, was driving near Lake Worth on Jacksboro Highway when wrong way driver Jake James slammed into his vehicle head on.
Both Harris and James were rushed to a nearby Texas hospital, but both succumbed to their injuries soon after arrival.
According to James’ wife, the 72-year-old man, who owns a chain of salons in the area, had left the house about three hours earlier. Shortly before the deadly crash, police received several 911 calls reporting a wrong way driver on the highway.
The two most common causes of wrong way driving are driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, and confusion. It is not clear what factors were at play in this tragic Fort Worth area car crash.
