Reports show that a female officer with the Von Ormy Police Department was struck by a vehicle on Interstate 35 just past the Loop 1604. Crews responded to the site of the accident and immediately secured the area. The vehicle involved, a van, was located in a grassy area in the center of the interstate.
The officer was critically injured in the accident. She was airlifted from the site of the collision to a nearby hospital for emergency medical assistance. No other injuries were reported in this accident. At this time, the crash remains under investigation.
