Texas Officer Critically Injured While Directing Traffic In Irving

A Parker County Chief Constable was struck by a car and seriously injured while off-duty and directing traffic in Irving early on Saturday morning. The accident took place a few minutes before 7 a.m. at the intersection of Loop 12 and State Highway 114 near the old Texas Stadium where road construction was taking place.
According to local news reports, 52-year-old Lowell Moss was rushed by ambulance to a Dallas hospital where he remains in critical condition from the car accident. He is surrounded by family and has responded to a few simple command while drifting in and out of consciousness. One of his sons has flown home from Afghanistan to be with his father.
The driver who hit Moss stayed at the scene of the car wreck and cooperated with police. Authorities do not believe speed or alcohol were components in the crash – and it is still unclear why the accident took place or how exactly the accident happened.
