The accident happened at around 1:15 a.m. late Friday night/ early Saturday morning when, according to police, a suspected drunk driver blew a stop light and slammed into another vehicle at the intersection of Camp Wisdom Road and Clark Road in Southwest Dallas (near the Dallas-Duncanville border).

According to Dallas police, Taurean Babcock, a student at Duncanville High School, was driving a white Mercedes eastbound in the 1400 block of Camp Wisdom Road when the driver of a white Nissan GTR sped through a red light and struck Babcock’s vehicle. The Nissan GTR then knocked down a utility pole, careened through a strip mall parking lot, and crashed through the front windows of a donut shop.

16-year-old Taurean Babcock was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. His passenger was transported to Methodist Dallas Medical Center with injuries, but is expected to survive.
The 20-year-old suspect was injured and transported to Methodist Dallas Medical Center. Three passengers in the suspect’s vehicle were also hospitalized for minor injuries.
The driver of the GTR is expected to be charged with intoxication manslaughter and assault with a vehicle.

DALLAS, TX (12/20/2014) — A 20-year-old suspect has been charged with intoxication manslaughter after a car accident which claimed the life of 16-year-old Taurean Babcock.
