- Keep your distance. Because of its size and weight, a speeding truck is very difficult to turn, slow down, or stop. In other words, a speeding truck is just one step away from an out-of-control truck. Don’t get too close and do not attempt to pass it.
- Look for company information. If a truck is going dangerously fast, you should contact the trucker’s company. Either note the company and the license plate or look for a phone number to call on the back of the vehicle. Wait to make the call until you have stopped driving.
- Call the police. If the truck is traveling at reckless speeds, the big rig is an immediate threat to the safety of others on the road. In these cases – especially if the commercial truck is displaying other careless driving behavior – call 911 immediately to report the incident.
