Tailgating Truck Drivers Are Dangerous

Tailgating and trucks don’t mix

You probably know that tailgating is illegal and dangerous for all drivers to engage in. However, you may not know that following too close is significantly more dangerous when it comes to 18-wheeler and commercial trucks. Because tractor-trailers are so big and heavy, they require more time and space to slow their vehicle or come to a stop. If one of these commercial trucks is tailgating, there is a greater chance that the trucker won’t be able to stop in time or avoid an accident. The result is often more than a minor fender-bender: a rear-end truck accident can be deadly.

She couldn’t stop her own truck in time – she slammed into the big rig and suffered serious, permanent injuries.
Two years later, Guignet has filed a Texas personal injury lawsuit against the driver of the jackknifed truck and the trucking company that employed him. Why was this trucker at fault? Police say that he was following too close to a pickup truck and speeding in the seconds before the incident.
