Randy Ray Edwards Killed, 3 Injured in Texas Car Accident

KAUFMAN COUNTY, TX (8/17/2014) — A tragic Sunday night head-on car accident has claimed the life of Randy Ray Edwards, and left three others hospitalized.

Randy Edwards was left trapped in the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. One of Edwards’ passengers, a 36-year-old woman from Mesquite, was flown to a Tyler, Texas hospital in serious condition. The other passenger, a 19-year-old man from Austin, Texas was taken by ambulance to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Kaufman, Texas – also in serious condition. The driver of the white car, Ramon Ramirez was flown via air ambulance (CareFlite) to Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas.
The Department of Public Safety (DPS) says they are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash, which would include testing a blood sample from Mr. Ramirez.
Our thoughts are with the families involved in this tragedy. This is an unfortunate accident and I hope the DPS is able to conduct a very thorough investigation. I can only hope that the victim’s families are able to get the truth, and the justice that they deserve following such a catastrophe.

KAUFMAN COUNTY, TX (8/17/2014) — A tragic Sunday night head-on car accident has claimed the life of Randy Ray Edwards, and left three others hospitalized.

According to reports, the fatal accident occurred Sunday night at around 7:40 p.m. on FM 2727 near CR 143 (two miles northeast of Kaufman, Texas). A black Dodge pickup truck driven by 63-year-old Randy Ray Edwards, of Balch Springs, was traveling northbound on Farm-to-Market 2727 with two passengers, when a white Ford Crown Victoria driven by 24-year-old Ramon Ramirez, of Kaufman, was traveling southbound. As the two vehicles got closer, the Crown Victoria allegedly crossed into the northbound lane and struck the oncoming truck head on.
