One Killed After Car Slams Into Dallas Home

A Texas driver has been charged with criminally negligent homicide after crashing his SUV into a home in Dallas and allegedly causing the death of one of the two passengers in the car.
According to Dallas Police and witness reports, the driver was at the intersection of Carissa Drive and Jupiter Road in Dallas when he sped through a stoplight and ran off of the road. The vehicle crashed through a fence and a peach tree before slamming into a residence where a mother, her four children, and their two dogs were asleep.
While the sleeping family was shaken but not injured in the accident, one passenger, 19-year-old Humberto Najera, was killed when he was ejected from the sports utility vehicle during the crash. A second passenger ran from the scene of the crime with minor injuries but was found by police a short time later. Both the driver and the surviving passenger were taken to Baylor Hospital for treatment. The driver, who is now facing criminal charges, is listed in serious condition.
While police believe that speed was a factor in the accident, it is unclear whether driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol was also a factor in the crash. The Texas traffic accident remains under investigation.
