The driver of the Chevy, later identified as 24-year-old Edgar Alexis Camacho of Cortez, Colorado, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The operator of the truck was transported to Midland Memorial Hospital for the treatment of sustained injuries.

The accident was reported on County Road 1232 near County Road 1160 that night at around 10:27 p.m. Local reports revealed that a 2001 International truck with a trailer was headed southbound on CR 1160 when the driver of a Chevrolet Impala failed to yield at a stop sign.
