The deadly incident occurred on Interstate 10 near Blalock Road at around 8:30 p.m. It was reported that a large semi-truck was traveling on the highway when it lost a tire. The tire hit a Kia SUV that was traveling on the Katy Tollway. This caused the driver to veer across all six lanes of traffic and crash into a wall.
The commercial truck did not stop and continued traveling on the interstate. A passenger in the Kia sustained fatal injuries.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of the fatal accident is in progress.
