The deadly accident took place on US-290 WB near Swenson Boulevard that afternoon at around 2 p.m. It was reported that a pickup truck was traveling east when it collided head-on with an oncoming 18-wheeler. The 23-year-old man driving the pickup was transported to a hospital in Austin in critical condition. He was later pronounced dead.
The operator of the semi-truck reportedly refused treatment from responding paramedics. They are currently cooperating with authorities. The identities of the involved parties have been withheld.
