At around 2:20 p.m., the collision took place on Interstate 45 near FM 739. A 46-year-old woman from Lacey, Washington, was operating a Freightliner tractor-trailer and headed southbound on the interstate. The Freightliner collided with three other tractor-trailers that were stopped due to another collision.
The first Freightliner caught fire due to the accident. The semi-truck caught fire due to the collision. The driver sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
An ongoing investigation into the deadly crash is underway.
