The deadly accident took place on Dumas Highway near Cherry Avenue at around 12:40 a.m. A 57-year-old man reportedly traveled on the highway when his car broke down. The vehicle was on the side of the road, and the driver and his friend were in the process of getting items out of the vehicle. This is when an oncoming semi-truck hit the victim.
The driver of the semi reportedly failed to remain at the scene. The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries and was later pronounced dead at the scene. No additional information on the accident has been provided.
