If you're lucky enough to call Texas home, you have plenty of places to roam this summer without even leaving the state. However, when you are out there on the road you'll want to make sure that your trip is safe and affordable. Oftentimes, you accomplish both goals with the same actions.
Your tires, quite literally, are all that's between you and the road. Fill them up before you take off on a trip. The right tire pressure ensures that you're getting the best gas mileage. More importantly, however, it ensures that your stopping distance and traction are within safe parameters. Also, make sure you check your tires for bulges as these indicate a weak spot in them. If there are any bulges, it's time to change your tires.
Your engine oil is vital to good performance. Before you take off on a trip, have it changed. This not only gives you better lubrication, it also gives the mechanic a chance to check for any leaks in the system. This ensures that your car is ready for the road, and that you won't end up waiting for a tow.
For you and the car! Make sure you bring extra coolant in the trunk and that your cooling system is full and free of leaks. Texas has some pretty extreme heat, so be sure to put extra drinking water in the car for you as well. If you're stuck waiting on the side of the road, there is a risk of getting dehydrated.
Even though gas prices are high, consider using the mid-grade, at least, in your car. Some vehicles really don't like the low-grade gasoline and their performance will suffer for it. Remember that your engine's power is one of the things that keeps you safe on the road, so making sure that you put the right fuel in it is definitely a good idea.If you get injured on the roads this summer because of someone else's negligence, consider contacting a car wreck lawyer.
A good accident attorney might be able to file a claim for you for compensation for your pain and suffering and your property damage. If someone is being careless and they cause you physical and financial harm, there's no reason you should have to face the fallout alone. The best policy, however, is to be ready for the road and to drive safely!
