Dallas Comes Together to Help the Berry Children

Dallas Comes Together to Help the Berry Children

In a heartfelt show of support for a family most had never met, Dallas communities came together and raised more than $23,000 for the Joshua and Robin Berry Children’s Trust.  The Trust was established to help with the lifetime care of the Berry’s three young children, two of which, Peter and Aaron, were left paralyzed in the tragic wreck that killed Houston’s Joshua and Robin Berry. Their daughter Willa suffered broken bones and is expected to recover.
Two events in honor of the Berry family were held in DFW on Sunday, July 24.  The first, an event at Kidville-Dallas raised $13,000. The second, an event at Plano’s Congregation Ashai Torah raised more than $10,000. While both events were a great success and raised much needed money for the care of the Berry children (and even donated the leftover baked goods to local firefighters), perhaps the most touching aspect was the way all involved came together to help complete strangers.
Local resident, Staci Rubin, told the Jewish Herald-Voice that locals recognized tragedies like this one can happen to anyone, so they wanted to help.  This isn’t just a Dallas phenomenon either. Although these two were the first events of their kind in Dallas, similar events in cities all across the country have been held to raise money for the Berry children, including Chicago, Baltimore and their hometown of Houston.
Let’s continue to come together and pick this family up in their time of need!
