On February 8, the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the scene of an automobile accident on Loop 338.

Reports provided by DPS indicate that a Dodge Ram pickup truck was traveling in the area of Loop 338 and 8th Street when the vehicle became involved in a collision with a semi-truck. The Dodge then collided with a Freightliner, which was towing a trailer.

The impact of the collision caused a passenger in the pickup truck, identified as Oviedo-Castillo, to be ejected from the vehicle. He was then struck by a Ford Escape on the northbound side of the roadway.

Oviedo-Castillo was fatally injured as a result of the accident.

The driver of the Dodge was transported to Medical Center Hospital for emergency treatment.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is currently investigating.
