On February 11, at approximately 9:00 a.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety was dispatched to provide assistance on-site at a motor vehicle accident on US Highway 77.
According to law enforcement, a semi-truck struck a woman on the highway during the morning hours. The incident prompted officials to close off the roadway just north of the Sarita US Border Patrol Checkpoint.
Authorities arrived at the scene and located 59-year-old Tina Berki suffering from severe injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
DPS is currently investigating the accident.
