Riding a motorcycle is a popular pastime for many Texans. Unfortunately, riders are exposed to the dangers of the road. Many drivers commonly fail to look out for motorcycle riders, only making the road more dangerous. Your life can be drastically changed by a serious accident, and some form of driver error causes most motorcycle crashes. According to the latest statistics, more than 80% of motorcycle incidents result in fatalities or major injuries, and riders are about 26 times more likely to die in a collision compared to those traveling in a passenger car. The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) reports that in 2022 alone, there were 562 fatalities and 2,422 injuries in motorcycle accidents in Texas. More than half of these crashes involved other vehicles.
A major motorcycle accident is never expected. Most of the time, poor visibility is involved because so many motorists neglect to watch out for motorcycle riders when they share the road. Unfortunately, motorcycle riders are much more likely to sustain fatal injuries. If you lose someone close to you in a serious collision, you may be able to pursue a wrongful death claim in order to recover lost compensation.
