Car accidents are an unfortunate reality for many Texas residents. The state has not experienced a day without a collision since November 2000. That should be a concern to anyone who routinely drives in the state. Statistics show that more than 900 people are killed in Texas car crashes at intersections, another 500 die in head-on impacts, and 400 are killed in crashes involving distracted drivers on average. Despite the fact that Houston and Dallas are some of the deadliest cities for drivers in the state, the majority of deadly collisions in Texas occur on rural roadways. If someone close to you is killed in an unexpected collision, you may be able to pursue a wrongful death claim with the help of a trained personal injury lawyer.
Deadly car accidents are always traumatic events. No one ever plans for someone close to them to be taken too soon due to a reckless driver’s actions. It can seem almost impossible for your life to ever be the same again. Under Texas state law, family members can act as representatives of the deceased and pursue a wrongful death claim against the insurer of the at-fault party in order to obtain financial compensation. This can potentially cover expenses like funeral and burial costs and other related damages. However, these types of cases are extremely complicated and hard to handle on your own.
You can maximize your recovery by working with a trained wrongful death lawyer to pursue lost compensation after a deadly accident.
