Losing a loved one is never a simple experience to go through. In addition to dealing with the shock of the tragedy and any prospective criminal proceedings, a family will probably also need to consider their financial situation in the future. According to Texas law, the surviving spouse, child, or parent of the deceased may bring a wrongful death claim against any person or business that they believe to be to blame for the death. In addition, an executor of the estate may bring a typical injury claim for injuries that contributed to the victim’s demise.
