Nothing can bring a loved one back to you if they died due to someone else’s carelessness, which is both heartbreaking and irreversible. Wrongful death lawyers may assist you in seeking justice for your departed family member and fighting for the financial settlement that would enable your family to attempt to heal.
In contrast to criminal prosecutions, wrongful death claims are civil lawsuits filed against individuals or organizations that are believed to have caused the deaths of others. It is the survivors of the deceased who file wrongful death lawsuits, not the state or the federal government, who both have the authority to file criminal charges. The goal of wrongful death proceedings is to give the surviving family members of the deceased the opportunity to seek financial compensation for the losses they have sustained as a result of the negligent behavior of the at-fault party.
