The deadly accident was reported on Interstate 10 near mile marker 877 early that morning at around 4:40 a.m. It was reported that the driver of a 2018 Toyota RAV4 sport utility vehicle was traveling eastbound when they hit a pedestrian. The pedestrian was then hit again by an eastbound tractor-trailer.
The operator of the rig continued traveling east and has not been located at this time. Neither the 53-year-old male driver of the SUV nor the three passengers on board were injured in the accident. The pedestrian sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The identities of the involved parties have been withheld. No further information has been provided at this time.
