According to the Texas Department of Transportation, 5,620 semi-truck accidents were reported in Texas in 2022. Large trucks were involved in almost 6.7% of all motor vehicle incidents on Texas's roads and highways in that year. The 928 fatal trucking crashes resulted in a total of 1,228 fatalities, or about double the national average. A total of 4,804 people were reportedly harmed in incidents involving large commercial vehicles in Texas, which also experienced an increase in the number of semi-truck accident injuries.
As the population continues to grow in the state of Texas, so does the demand for more goods, food, and services. Big trucks are required to bring all of these into the state, and as the trucking industry grows, more people and cars are using going to be using the state's many highway and road systems. Increased traffic and congestion brought on by more large vehicles on the road increase the risk of accidents. Truck accidents can result in death or seriously disabling injuries in addition to financial implications for physical damage.
