Lubbock, TX - Two Die in Head-on Crash at US-87 & FM 1585

Lubbock, TX (April 15, 2024) - On Saturday, April 13, two people were killed following a collision in the Lubbock area. The deadly accident was reported late that evening around 11:30 p.m. at the intersection of US-87 near Farm to Market Road 1585. It was later reported that a Dodge Ram pickup truck and a Toyota passenger vehicle collided head-on at the scene. 

The Toyota, driven by 23-year-old Marcos Noyola Castanon of Wilson, was headed southbound as the pickup, driven by 33-year-old Christina Elaine Castro of Abilene, was traveling northbound. The two vehicles crashed head-on. Both drivers suffered fatal injuries and were later pronounced dead. The road was dry at the time of the crash. No further information on the deadly accident is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the fatal crash is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
