According to initial sources, 61-year-old Daimon Dale Knight of Lubbock was traveling south on the roadway as 21-year-old Kahlil Lamont De Vaughn was headed northbound on the roadway leading up to the accident. For unknown reasons, Knight’s vehicle crossed the centerline and collided head-on with the oncoming car. A passenger in De Vaughn’s car, 21-year-old Tyler Obed Thompson, was transported to University Medical Center in Lubbock in critical condition. Thompson was later pronounced dead. No further information on the deadly crash is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the collision is being managed by local law enforcement officials.

Lubbock, TX (April 20, 2024) – One person was killed following a head-on collision in the Lubbock area on Thursday, April 18. The crash was reported on N. County Road 1700 late that night around 8 p.m. Local reports revealed that two vehicles collided head-on at the scene.
