Lindale, TX - One Killed, Two Hurt in Pileup Crash on I-20

Lindale, TX (May 1, 2023) - One person was killed and two others were injured in a multi-vehicle collision in Lindale on Wednesday, April 26. 

The fatal accident took place on Interstate 20 in Smith County at around 2 p.m. It was reported that three semi-trucks and a passenger vehicle were headed west when one of the 18-wheelers rear-ended the other three vehicles. The truck driver of that rig was later identified as a 50-year-old man from Newburgh, New York. 

The New York man suffered fatal injuries and was later pronounced dead. The 54-year-old Statesville, North Carolina man driving one of the other rigs was taken to a hospital in Tyler for treatment. The 56-year-old Lindale man driving the passenger car was transported to a Lindale Hospital to undergo treatment for injuries. 

The other truck driver was not injured in the crash, and the identities of the involved parties have been withheld. 

An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is in progress.
