Kerrville, TX (July 24, 2023) - One person was killed and three others were injured in a multi-vehicle collision in Kerrville on Thursday, July 20.
The deadly accident was reported at the 2600 block of TX-27 at around 11 a.m. A truck was reportedly turning left at Blue Ridge Road when it collided with a westbound Toyota Corolla. A Ford Transit van traveling beyond the Toyota tried to change lanes to avoid the accident, but also hit the truck.
A tire from the truck then came loose and hit a fourth vehicle on the roadway. The 71-year-old man driving the Toyota suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Three other people from the scene were hospitalized for treatment.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is in progress.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
Trucking accidents frequently result in fatal casualties due to the significant size discrepancy between a large truck and a passenger car. In 2010, there were 15,676 crashes involving large trucks in Texas, and 2,339 large vehicle crashes resulted in serious injuries. The surviving family members of a victim may be entitled to compensation for all losses sustained as a result of a fatal semi-truck accident. This is achieved by filing a wrongful death lawsuit. Economic compensatory, non-economic compensatory, and punitive or exemplary damages are the three main categories of damages you might obtain in a wrongful death claim. Only a trained attorney can help you determine what you are eligible for in your case. Economic damages often include tangible financial losses, such as medical costs, funeral costs, and lost future earning potential. Non-economic losses are caused by the psychological and emotional effects of coping with a loved one's wrongful death, such as loss of consortium, companionship, support, services, society, and comfort. Punitive damages are less common and intended to punish the at-fault party and deter similar events from happening in the future. If you lost a loved one in an accident involving a large truck, our award-winning wrongful death lawyers are here to help you through your recovery. These types of cases are often long and complicated, and only a trained attorney can help you achieve full and fair compensation. After a fatal accident, we can assist you in determining whether you have cause to file a claim.
