Emergency crews were rushed to the scene after being notified of a pedestrian-vehicle crash. Local reports revealed that an off-duty lieutenant was headed home when he hit a pedestrian on the roadway. The officer was driving an unmarked city vehicle at the time of the crash. After the initial impact, the vehicle was hit by an SUV. Neither the lieutenant nor the two occupants of the SUV were hurt in the accident. The area was closed and later reopened at around 7 a.m. The identity of the deceased party has been withheld. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the fatal crash is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
We would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time.
