You are likely to see trucks whenever you go on the highways because there are more than 15 million heavy trucks in the United States. The American transportation sector cannot be understood without large commercial trucks. The year 2020 saw 4,014 fatal semi-truck accidents, and when compared to 2009, the number of fatalities involving semi-trucks increased by 28% that year. Compared to 2009, the number of truck occupant fatalities increased by 35% in 2020, but in contrast to 2019, there were 110 fewer fatalities in 2020.
18-wheeler accidents, as well as those involving other large trucks and commercial vehicles, can be fatal. The danger of major injury is higher for the driver and passengers in smaller cars, but those traveling in these rigs are also at risk of being seriously injured. The worst-case scenario for truck accident victims is that they do not survive.
People who are involved in truck accidents may sustain severe, permanent injuries. Both the truck driver and the trucking business may be at fault for a truck accident, but their insurance companies will make every effort to avoid paying for your losses and injuries. You should contact an attorney to see if you have grounds for compensation.
