Local reports indicated that a driver lost control while traveling on a curve and hit a Houston Police Department officer who was working traffic control for the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). The driver then crashed into the trailer of a nearby TxDOT vehicle.
The driver suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the vehicle was transported to a local hospital for treatment of sustained injuries.
