Houston, TX - Driver Killed, Passenger Hurt in Crash with TxDot Trailer at 610 Loop & Lawndale St

Houston, TX (February 12, 2024) - On Friday, February 9, a driver was killed and a passenger injured after a multi-vehicle collision in the Houston area. The deadly accident was reported near 610 Loop and Lawndale Street that night at around 11:39 p.m. Local sources indicated that two passenger cars and a tractor-trailer were involved in the collision. 

Local reports indicated that a driver lost control while traveling on a curve and hit a Houston Police Department officer who was working traffic control for the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). The driver then crashed into the trailer of a nearby TxDOT vehicle. 

The driver suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the vehicle was transported to a local hospital for treatment of sustained injuries. No additional information on the deadly accident is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the fatal crash is in the hands of local law enforcement officials.
