Texas Deadly Pedestrian Accidents
There is hardly anything to safeguard you as a pedestrian in the event of a serious crash. Because of this, pedestrian accidents frequently result in serious injuries, escalating medical expenses, and other losses that can be difficult to handle. The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has found that there has been a nearly 29.6 percent increase in the state’s pedestrian fatality rate in just the past five years. In 2022, there were 5,764 pedestrian-related collisions in Texas, which led to 1,526 major injuries and 829 fatalities. Nearly one in five traffic fatalities reported in the state that year involve someone traveling on foot, greater than the national average. It is important that you are able to partner with a qualified personal injury lawyer to pursue a claim after a deadly pedestrian crash.
You would think that other drivers would be considerate of your space and pay attention to the road, but we know that is not usually the case. Sadly, a lot of careless motorists collide with pedestrians on a daily basis. Those who suffer injuries in these accidents might be able to file a claim for compensation in order to achieve a full recovery. Drivers must also take precautions to avoid life-threatening crashes, and drivers who fail to share the road can be held responsible for their actions by pursuing a wrongful death claim. A pedestrian may very well sustain severe or even fatal injuries when drivers fail to yield on the road. Most pedestrian accidents are caused by motorist negligence of one kind or another, and you need to be able to get the most out of your case by working with a trained lawyer.
