Fatal Car Crashes in Texas
Every day, thousands of Texans travel the enormous highways and roads of the Lone Star State. In 2022, there were an astounding 244,092 non-fatal injury collisions in Texas. And out of those, about 15,299 led to significant injuries. There were 448 fatalities from distracted driving, an 11 percent increase from 2021. However, car accidents were also caused by a host of other factors. In 2022, drunk driving caused several accidents in Texas, which led to 1,163 fatalities in total that year. This amount represented 25.95 percent of all fatalities from collisions in Texas. All age groups of drivers have the potential to be safe or dangerous, but drivers between the ages of 19 and 24 were responsible for more accidents on Texas roadways than any other.
