Edinburg, TX – Passenger Dies in Collision at FM1925 & Uresti Rd

Edinburg, TX (April 22, 2024) – A passenger was killed and multiple others were injured following a traffic accident in the Edinburg area on Saturday, April 20. The fatal accident was reported at the intersection of Farm to Market Road 1925 and Uresti Road late that night around 6:34 p.m. The crash occurred when the driver of an eastbound silver Chevrolet Malibu lost control of the vehicle. 

The Chevy entered westbound traffic before hitting a mailbox and a fence. A Chevrolet Camaro traveling behind the Malibu swerved to avoid hitting the vehicle when it swiped a Chevrolet Tahoe. The driver of the Malibu fled the scene on foot. A passenger in the vehicle, identified as 49-year-old Edgar Ivan Garcia, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Five occupants traveling in the Camaro and the Tahoe were hospitalized for the treatment of sustained injuries. No further information on the deadly crash is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
