The deadly accident was reported on Interstate 30 EB near Second Avenue at around 2:28 a.m. A major accident occurred after a red tow truck hit a 2006 Chrysler Town & Country minivan. The impact caused the Chrysler to spin and enter oncoming traffic. The operator of the tow truck reportedly fled the scene without rendering aid.
A 25-year-old man near the scene stopped to provide aid to the occupants of the minivan. The victim was standing next to the damaged vehicle when a 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe hit both the van and the pedestrian.
The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. A passenger in the minivan was hospitalized for treatment of sustained injuries. The 33-year-old driving the Tahoe was arrested and is currently facing charges related to the accident.
Authorities are currently looking for the driver of the tow truck. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is in progress.
