Bryan, TX (March 26, 2024) - A two-vehicle crash in the Bryan area left one person dead and others injured on Monday, March 25. The deadly accident was reported on OSR early that morning at around 11:20 a.m. Local reports revealed that a 2019 Kia Optima driven by a 17-year-old was heading eastbound when it attempted to pass in a no-passing lane.
The Kia crashed head-on with a westbound 2009 Toyota Corolla driven by 22-year-old Joshua Koppenol of Hallettsville. Emergency responders were quickly dispatched to the scene after being notified of a serious crash. A passenger in the Toyota, later identified as 22-year-old Alyssa Schoeneman, also from Hallettsville, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Both other drivers were transported to a local hospital in serious condition. No further updates on the deadly crash are currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
