Austin, TX - Deadly Multi-Vehicle Injury Collision on US-290

Austin, TX (March 16, 2024) - One person was killed, and another was hurt after a fatal pileup crash in the Austin area on Friday, March 15. The deadly accident was reported between the 8700 and 9114 blocks of US-290 near Highway 183. Three or more vehicles were reportedly involved in the accident. 

Emergency crews were quickly dispatched to the scene to render the necessary aid to the involved parties. A male victim suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Another injured victim was listed as a trauma alert and was transported to Dell Seton in serious condition. All westbound lanes were closed as a result of the accident. The area was late reopened after tow trucks were able to clear the resulting wreckage. No further information has been provided. Local law enforcement officials are handling the ongoing crash investigation.
