Amarillo, TX - Driver Killed After Sports Car Wedged Under Semi near I-40

Amarillo, TX (December 9, 2023) - One person was killed, and another was injured after a collision involving three vehicles in the Amarillo area on Wednesday night, December 4. The fatal crash occurred at the crash site near the intersection of Interstate 40 and S. Lakeside Drive at around 10:50 p.m. Local reports revealed that a black Ford Mustang, a green Chevrolet Camaro, and a semi-truck were involved in the collision. 

Local reports indicated that the drivers of the Mustang and the Camaro were driving side-by-side at a high rate of speed. A semi-truck was exiting a parking lot on the roadway when the two vehicles crashed into the trailer and became wedged underneath it. 

The driver of the Ford, 21-year-old Juan Flores Jr., suffered fatal injuries in the impact. The driver of the Chevy was hospitalized for treatment of sustained injuries. No additional information has been provided at this time. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the deadly accident is in progress.
