San Antonio, TX - Injuries in DUI Collision at I-10 & New Braunfels Ave

San Antonio, TX (April 7, 2024) - There were reported injuries after a crash involving an alleged drunk driver in the San Antonio area on Friday, April 5. The collision was reported on Interstate 10 EB near New Braunfels Avenue late that evening around 9 p.m. Local reports revealed that a gray Lexus and a black Volvo collided at the scene, and a black Nissan Sentra was also involved in the accident. 

It was later revealed that a 71-year-old woman was headed eastbound in the Volvo when she collided with the southbound Lexus driven by a 35-year-old. The impact caused the Lexus to veer left and hit a metal pole. The driver of the Volvo was hurt but refused treatment from responding officials. The driver of the Nissan was not hurt in the accident. 

The driver of the Lexus fled the scene on foot and was later apprehended by local authorities. They were charged with driving while intoxicated. No further information on the accident is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
