The Kia crashed head-on with a westbound 2009 Toyota Corolla driven by 22-year-old Joshua Koppenol of Hallettsville. Emergency responders were quickly dispatched to the scene after being notified of a serious crash. A passenger in the Toyota, later identified as 22-year-old Alyssa Schoeneman, also from Hallettsville, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Both other drivers were transported to a local hospital in serious condition. No further updates on the deadly crash are currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
