Rollover Crashes in Texas
Rollover accidents are involved in nearly 33 percent of deadly car crashes nationwide, despite making up less than 3 percent of car accidents overall. In most of these cases, these fatalities involve unrestrained vehicle occupants. Rollover crashes accounted for 7,640 fatalities in 2021 across the country, or almost 29 percent of all passenger vehicle occupant deaths that year. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports that there are over 280,000 rollover crashes in the nation annually. The rate of serious rollover crashes has increased greatly in recent years, with some attributing this rise to the growing popularity of SUVs, pickup trucks, and other top-heavy vehicles.
