Rio Grande City, TX - Michael Villanueva Dies in Fatal Rear-End Crash with Trailer on FM 755

Rio Grande City, TX (February 29, 2024) - On Tuesday, February 27, a passenger was killed after a two-vehicle collision in the Rio Grande City area. The deadly accident was reported on Farm to Market Road 755 near Embassy Road that afternoon at around 2 p.m. Local reports indicated that a 2011 GMC Sierra was traveling northbound when it rear-ended a flatbed trailer. 

Authorities later revealed that the driver was distracted leading up to the collision. The front passenger in the GMC sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The deceased party was later identified as 34-year-old Michael Villanueva of Rio Grande City. 

The driver of the Sierra was transported to a local hospital for treatment of sustained injuries. No further information on the accident is currently available. Local law enforcement officials are managing an ongoing investigation into the cause of the deadly crash, and additional information will be provided as it continues.
