The children of a deceased League City nursing home resident have filed a Texas nursing home negligence lawsuit against the facility that was caring for her mother.
According to the Galveston Daily News, Diane Hallman and Stanley Mohr have filed a wrongful death suit against Regent Care Center of League City, claiming that the Texas nursing home failed to provide the appropriate care for their mother and that they did not seek medical attention for the woman after a serious fall.
The woman, 78-year-old Rachel Mohr, fell in her nursing home room last spring, suffering severe injuries, including bleeding and head trauma. However, when nursing home staffers found her, they placed her back into her bed and did not call for emergency help. Later, Mohr was found unconscious and died after her arrival at a nearby hospital.
In addition to not seeking emergency medical care for Mohr, the lawsuit also states that the nursing home did not provide the elderly woman with a safe environment despite the fact that she was a fall risk and that her doctor’s care plan included measures to prevent falls and fall injuries. At the time of her fall, she did not have a low bed, floor mats, or an alarm to alert others of a fall.
Mohr’s family unsuccessfully tried to settle out of court with the nursing home and will now seek a Galveston nursing home negligence trial.
