Almost 300 fatalities and over 2,000 injuries are caused by 18-wheeler accidents each year. The number of big rigs in the United States is close to 2 million, and over 500,000 accidents involving 18-wheelers occur countrywide each year. Deaths from semi-truck accidents are thought to total 5,000. Around 98 percent of these fatalities involve a driver or a passenger of a car that is not a truck.
Even though there is no way to compensate for the loss of a loved one, filing a wrongful death lawsuit is the only way to guarantee that the negligent parties are held accountable, that similar dangerous behavior won't result in future fatalities, and that you and your family have enough money to take care of and support one another in the event of your loved one's passing. By giving the deceased's family and estate the financial means to care for themselves and their loved ones in the absence of the decedent, wrongful death cases enable surviving family members to hold the irresponsible defendants both legally and financially accountable. A wrongful death lawyer in Texas is prepared and ready to help you during the process.
